
Chris Larsen
Chris Larsen is a 25-year veteran in the Clean Energy sector. He is currently Regional Director, Europe and Middle East for Fractal EMS and in this role is responsible for all commercial efforts in the region. Fractal’s Energy Management System (EMS) for battery enegy storage is deployed on over 15GWh of projects globally and under contract for an additional 20GWh, and the Battery Management System (BMS) is integrated with leading battery providers. Previously as Senior Director managing Dynapower’s Clean Energy business unit (hydrogen, renewable energy, microgrids, e-mobility, and clean energy in defense) he headed global business development, strategic partnerships, and applications engineering. In this role, he was responsible for architecting Dynapower’s Southern Asia partnership with Newen Systems and positioning Dynapower as the leading power electronics provider for hybrid solar-plus-storage systems, teaming with Dr. Apurva Somani to bring the market-defining DC-DC converter technology to life. He spent ten years with ABB which included work in inverter design within the R&D group, country management for power quality products, and national channel management in ABB’s Automation Division. Larsen entered the clean energy field with the North Carolina (US) Clean Energy Technology Centre, where he served as Policy Director, working with utilities and regulators (ISOs and TSOs) to write net metering regulations and streamlined interconnection processes. With a side interest in aerodynamics, he holds a patent for the popular Pocket Disc and co-founded the fairtrade import business Buena Onda Games. Larsen has a Masters in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University and a degree in economics magna cum laude from Princeton. Larsen sits on the boards of NC Green Power and the Princeton Alumni Schools Committee and is a thick-skinned member of the Dénia open water swim club.
