Sphera Energy is an energy storage project development platform founded in 2022, based in Milan, with activities across Italy and Germany. As an early mover in the Italian market and one of the very few pure-play and independent storage operators, Sphera Energy has secured a leading position with a sizeable advanced-stage and fully owned pipeline. In 2024 Sphera Energy also expanded internationally and started developing a pipeline of standalone BESS projects in Germany.

Prior to founding Sphera, Mahael was Head of Business Development EMEA for Canadian Solar leading a team of +40 colleagues driving origination, acquisition, and development of a +10 GW pipeline of Solar PV and BESS projects across 10 different markets in Europe and the UK. Mahael’s previous career was entirely focused on Renewables, with experiences spanning Europe, APAC and the USA with large Wind corporates Vestas and Siemens Gamesa, as well as entrepreneurial fund-backed development and IPP platforms Building Energy and Asterion Energies.
